Tony Scales joined Teamsters Local 324 in October 1997 when he was hired as a warehouseman at Americold Logistics in Salem, OR. After working as an order selector, forklift operator, and receiver at Americold, he applied for a job at WinCo Foods Distribution Center and started there in June 1998. 

After roughly 8 years of working for WinCo Foods, Tony ran for a Shop Steward position on the day shift and was elected to represent the dry grocery side of the warehouse by his peers. During his time as Steward he attended multiple training seminars and was involved in contract negotiations in 2012 and 2016.

In 2006, Tony was asked to join a slate as a Trustee in the Local 324 general election and was elected. He served as a trustee on the Executive Board until 2010, when he was elected as the President of Local 324. Tony has also served as the Political Coordinator for Local 324 since 2007.

In 2019, when Derek Cutter retired, Tony was hired by Chris R. Muhs to replace him as Business Agent, and he stepped away from his role as President. Tony currently represents Teamsters in multiple industries, including Bread distribution, Construction (AGC, Pipeline), Food Processing, Private Sector, UPS, and Warehousing. Tony has also served on the Supervisory Committee of the Teamsters Joint Council #37 Federal Credit Union since 2023.
